High Tide was designed in 2017 as a creative and elegant way to demonstrate the benefits of PWAs. It quickly earned recognition among web developers, with Google featuring it in a demo at the 2017 Chrome Developer Summit in San Francisco. Sailing enthusiasts named it Cruising World's App of the Month.

01The Problem
At DockYard, we believed in the future of PWAs and the native-like experience they could offer for a fraction of the development cost. We built High Tide as a lightweight app to showcase that power.
02Tech Stack
Ember.js and vanilla JavaScript. We used open APIs from NOAA to create dynamic charts of tide schedules. Users can drag the chart to get tides at different points in the day, and the imagery and background change with the time of day and the tide level.
“This season of the Daveys has once again put the outstanding work that comes from small shops across the globe on display. We are proud to showcase those who utilize flawless execution, groundbreaking technology, and a fresh approach to the thought process to generate amazing content.”
